Oyo APC Candidate Promises Infrastructure Accountability, Urges Citizen Oversight

The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate for Oyo State, Sen. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has pledged to institutionalize independent quality assurance and strictly hold contractors accountable as part of his vision for the state’s sustainable development.
In a press statement released Thursday, Alli emphasized that public infrastructure must be judged by durability and economic impact rather than the sheer number of commissioned projects.
He vowed that under his administration, contractors who deliver poor workmanship will be forced to fix defects at their own expense.
“Every kobo of public funds invested must deliver measurable value to taxpayers,” Alli said, adding that public officials overseeing projects will also face strict transparency requirements.
The gubernatorial candidate called for a partnership between the government and community groups, transport unions, and civil society organizations to monitor public spending.
He urged residents to move beyond simply attending commissioning ceremonies and to actively question whether projects meet approved budgets and technical specifications.
Alli stated that his administration would focus on strengthening public procurement processes and prioritizing infrastructure projects that improve trade, connectivity, and security across Oyo State.
