Adekanla Tokunbo: We’re Supporting Victims of Violence At Center For Violence Reduction And Eradication

The Coordinator of Center for Violence Reduction and Eradication (CVRE), Adekanla Tokunbo has said that the Non Governmental Organization has put in place many programs aimed at supporting victims of violence in our society.
Tokunbo, while speaking to our correspondent on the activities of the organization stated that one of problems facing our society today is the issue of violence.
According to him, violence is an issue that needs the attention of all and sundry.
“Violence as defined by World Health Organization is “the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, which either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation”, although the group acknowledges that the inclusion of “the use of power” in its definition expands on the conventional understanding of the word.”
He added that, Center for Violence Reduction and Eradication (CVRE) is working with other stakeholders not only to reduce violence cases but also to assist victims.
“We are working to ensure that we reduce cases of violence in our society. We have embarked on a series of programs to even prevent it from happening. We are creating awareness and sensitising our people on the need to prevent any action capable of leading to violence.”
The Coordinator of the Center for Violence Reduction and Eradication (CVRE) further stated that the NGO will be supporting victims of violence by footing their medical bills and also put in place many other programs to alleviate the suffering of victims.
“Part of the motive of Center for Violence Reduction and Eradication (CVRE) is to discourage violence from happening. Also, we are going to foot the bill of victims of violence. We have also put in place other programs to support victims of violence”.
