South Korean Man Dies After Eating Poisoned Toads He Mistook For Edible Bullfrogs

A South Korean man in his 50s has died after mistaking a poison toad for a bullfrog and eating it in a restaurant.
The man was with two friends when he captured the five amphibians from a reservoir in Daejon, about 100 miles south of Seoul.
Police said the meal was prepared at a restaurant owned by one of the men’s wives.
Bullfrogs are a delicacy in South Korea, however, some closely resemble poisonous toads.
According to the Yonhap news agency, the 57-year-old victim ate his mean and soon started vomiting.
He was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead the following morning.
Police conducted a forensic analysis of the meal’s leftovers and found it contained the toxin bufotenine.  In high doses it can be fatal.
