Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s cabinet faced a double blow Monday as the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and his special adviser both resigned from their positions, official letters showed.
Barrister Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, the state’s budget commissioner, and Hon. Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, the special adviser on budget and economic planning, tendered their resignations effective Nov. 2, 2026.
In a formal letter addressed to the governor, Ojo expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his tenure as a “great honour.””
Oyeleke, however, cited a difficult working relationship and an unconducive administrative environment as his primary reasons for stepping down.
The departures follow a turbulent month for the Makinde administration, which has seen several high-profile exits, including the recent resignation of Chief of Staff Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi.
Local political analysts suggest the wave of resignations stems from internal party realignments ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
