Under Makinde Administration, Christians, Muslims, and Isese Worshippers Are Now United, Says Araba of Ibadanland

The Araba and Oluisese of Ibadanland, Araba Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola II, has commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for successfully fostering unity among all religious faiths in the state.

Speaking at the Adamasingba venue during this year’s Isese Day celebration, Araba Odegbola praised Governor Makinde as a true adherent of Isese tradition, noting that even the Governor’s name is inspired by Yoruba deities.

“It is under Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration that the Inter-Faith Affairs Office was established. This office has played a crucial role in bringing together all faiths in Oyo State, ensuring peace and preventing religious disturbances,” Araba Odegbola said.

He further highlighted that Governor Makinde approved and officially declared August 20 as a public holiday for Isese worshippers in Oyo State, a historic recognition for traditional Yoruba religion.

Araba Odegbola also appealed to the Governor to extend yearly incentives, similar to those given to Muslims and Christians for their holy pilgrimages, to Isese worshippers as well, to further support and recognize their religious practices.

Regarding the Olubadan Designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Araba Odegbola described him as not only a man of integrity but also a firm believer in Yoruba culture and tradition.

He expressed confidence that Oba Ladoja’s reign will usher in peace, tranquility, and development to Ibadanland.

Araba Odegbola also urged all Isese worshippers to remain committed to upholding the tenets and values of the Isese religion, emphasizing its importance in preserving Yoruba heritage and unity in the community.
