President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the current Service Chiefs and appointed new leaders in a major shakeup aimed at reinforcing Nigeria’s national security framework.
In a statement from the Statehouse on Friday, President Tinubu named General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.
The Chief of Army Staff will now be Major-General W. Shaibu. Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke was appointed Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas takes over as Chief of Naval Staff.
Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye remains as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The President expressed his gratitude to General Musa and the outgoing Service Chiefs for their service and leadership.
He urged the new appointees to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship in the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
All appointments are effective immediately.
