Oke-Odo Club, Kudeti, Ibadan Announces Obituary And Burial Arrangements For Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo

The Oke-Odo Club, Kudeti, Ibadan, joins the Olunloyo family, friends, and the entire Oyo State in mourning the passing of the distinguished former Governor of old Oyo State, Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo (VOSO).

The eminent scholar, mathematician, and statesman died on April 6, 2025, at the age of 89.

Final Rites and Burial Arrangements

According to the funeral arrangements released by the Olunloyo family, the final rites for Chief Olunloyo will span three days, from Tuesday, June 24, to Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Ibadan.

Tuesday, June 24:
The ceremonies will commence with a Classical Music Night of Tributes at Felicia Hall, Jogor Centre, Ibadan. This evening will feature musical performances and heartfelt eulogies, celebrating the remarkable life and legacy of Chief Olunloyo.

Wednesday, June 25:
A Wake will be held at the same venue, providing an opportunity for family, friends, political associates, and admirers to pay their last respects and reflect on Chief Olunloyo’s enduring impact on Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

Thursday, June 26:
The final farewell will begin with a State Commendation Service at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, at 8:00 AM. This will be followed by a Cathedral Liturgy at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral Church of St. David’s, Kudeti, where solemn prayers and blessings will be offered in honor of the late leader.
A private interment ceremony for the immediate family will follow the church service.
The day’s events will conclude with a Reception at 2:00 PM at the University of Ibadan International Conference Centre, where guests will gather to celebrate Chief Olunloyo’s life, achievements, and enduring legacy.
