The Abia Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it will continue to collaborate with other sister security agencies for enhanced peace and security in the state.
The command disclosed this in a statement at the end of a crucial meeting between its commandant, Paul Igwebuike, and the commandant of the Nigerian Navy College of Accounts and Finance, Owerrinta, Capt. Osuolale Eyitayo.
The meeting took place at the NSCDC headquarters in Umuahia.
The statement quoted Mr Igwebuike to have described NSCDC and the Nigerian Navy as “age-long dependable allies”.
He said the meeting “offered a very important opportunity to strengthen the existing relationship between both agencies and to plan on yuletide security operations”.
“Beyond the normal familiarisation visits by newly deployed Service Commanders, we have an opportunity to review strategies and strengthen existing collaboration.
“It is also an opportunity to emplace measures towards efficiently securing lives and critical assets and infrastructure in the South-East in particular, especially ahead of the Yuletide,” said Mr Igwebuike.
The Abia NSCDC boss described the commandant general of the corps, Ahmed Audi, as “an ardent believer and promoter of synergy.
The statement, issued by the command’s spokesman, Agu Ndukwe, further quoted the navy commandant to have thanked his host for the warm reception.
Mr Eyitayo was reported to have assured NSCDC of the willingness of his organisation to continue to work closely with the corps to achieve greater results.
He said the NSCDC and the navy must always work in synergy to fulfil the mandates of discouraging oil theft, petroleum pipeline vandalism and all forms of illegal dealings in petroleum products in the country.
