Nigerian National League: Lobi Stars FC Defeats ABS 2-0

Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi defeated ABS FC of Ilorin 2-0 on Saturday in Match Day 11 of the Nigerian National League (NNL).

The match, played at Mcarty Stadium in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, produced exciting moments for fans as both teams battled for control from the opening whistle.

Lobi Stars, however, took the lead in the second minute when Peter Onah scored from a delightful corner kick by Akile Monday.

The goal boosted Lobi Stars’ confidence as they continued to press forward while maintaining a solid defensive shape to contain their opponents.

ABS pushed hard for an equaliser and created several attacking opportunities but was unable to break through Lobi’s solid defence.

The hosts later doubled their lead in the 87th minute when Barnabas Imenger Junior capitalised on a chance after spotting the ABS goalkeeper outside the 18-yard box and calmly sent the ball into the net.

Speaking after the match, ABS coach Joel Adedeji said his players gave a good account of themselves despite the loss.

According to him, his team played very well and showed strong determination throughout the encounter.

“We played well even though we lost the match,” Adedeji said, commending his players for their effort.

Also, Lobi Stars coach John Onuh praised his team for sticking to the game plan and executing instructions effectively.

He said the players agreed to play for victory, and they delivered on that objective.

Onuh, however, noted that the team still needed improvement in certain areas, particularly in attack and midfield.

He added that strengthening those areas would make it difficult for any team to defeat the team, regardless of the venue.
