Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated Tuesday that Israel is not pursuing a prolonged conflict with Iran and will consult with the United States on the appropriate time to halt the fighting.
Speaking to journalists in Jerusalem alongside his German counterpart, Saar said: “We will continue until the minute that we and our partners think that is appropriate to stop… we are not looking for an endless war.”
The remarks come as the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran enters its 11th day, with the conflict spreading across the Middle East, including Iranian strikes on neighboring states like the United Arab Emirates and expanded fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Saar highlighted Israel’s achievements in weakening Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, adding, “We want to remove, for the long term, existential threats from Iran to Israel,” in response to a Reuters question.
He declined to provide a specific timeline for ending the war but urged global diplomatic isolation of Tehran, calling on nations to sever ties with the Iranian regime.
On the same day, the Israeli military reported new strikes on “terror regime targets” in Tehran amid ongoing Iranian missile launches toward Israel.
