Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi lashed out at the international community Wednesday for its silence as Israel allegedly assassinates senior Iranian officials from a “kill list,” pulling the United States into a “deeper moral and political abyss.”
Araghchi made the comments in a post on X late Wednesday.
He posed a hypothetical: Imagine an Iranian president handing a foreign ambassador a “kill list” targeting the U.S. president, congressional leaders and top generals, then declaring, “We will eliminate them, one by one.”
“Within hours, the world would erupt. Emergency UN Security Council sessions. Relentless media hysteria. Sanctions, threats, perhaps even war — wrapped neatly in the language of ‘international law’ and defending the ‘global order,'” Araghchi wrote.
The double standard shows rules do not apply to Israel, he said. “The very same guardians of ‘law and order’ fall silent, equivocate, or worse, supply the weapons and the cover.”
“This is … a calculated moral collapse — where rules exist only for adversaries, and impunity is reserved for allies,” he added.
Araghchi warned that Israel’s recklessness in normalizing “heinous methods of terror” endangers its U.S. ally, noting that “for every action there will inevitably and always be a reaction.”
