Ibadan Prepares To Host Ose Meji Festival Conference

The rich heritage and cultural significance of Òsé Méjì, a revered tradition in Ibadan, will be thoroughly explored at the upcoming OSEMEJI/OBAMORO Conference 2025.

According to a press statement by Ose Meji Ibadan Foundation, the event will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 10 a.m., at the Chieftaincy Hall, Oyo State Secretariat, Ibadan.

Òsé Méjì, which has been a subject of debate regarding its rightful ownership—whether it belongs exclusively to the Babaláwo (diviners), dedicated Òrìṣà devotees, or solely to Ibadan indigenes—is set to be clarified through an in-depth presentation.

The conference, themed “Ose Meji: The Spiritual Source Of Ibadanland And Its Relevance In Modern Times,” will unveil the true influence, impact, and unique aspects of this cultural and spiritual practice.

The event will be held under the distinguished leadership of Araba Ifalere Odegbemi Odegbola II, the Araba and Olúìsèsè of Ibadanland.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa I, will be the Royal Father of the day. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo, Engr. Seyi Makinde, will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while Alhaja Sarata Konibaje will be the Mother of the day.

Community members, cultural enthusiasts, and scholars are invited to attend and learn about the roles individuals play in perpetuating the Òsé Méjì heritage in Ibadan.

The conference aims to deepen understanding and appreciation of Ibadan’s rich traditional practices and foster unity among all stakeholders.
