Exposing Atrocity, Paying The Ultimate Price: The Fate Of Al Jazeera’s Anas Al Sharif Amid Gaza’s Genocide By Alaba Abdulrazak

In a world that prides itself on justice and human dignity, the cold-blooded killing of Anas Al Sharif, a courageous Palestinian journalist, and his colleagues by an Israeli airstrike near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza is a brutal testament to the depths of calculated cruelty and deliberate erasure faced by Palestinians.
Anas Al Sharif was not only a voice of truth but a beacon of resilience for millions following the apartheid-like oppression and violent siege of Gaza. His assassination, alongside four fellow Al Jazeera journalists and others, was no tragic accident but a targeted strike on men who bore witness to the harrowing realities of occupation and war crimes.
This execution epitomizes a systematic policy of terror aimed at silencing the truth and obliterating Palestinian existence.
With this action, the international community can no longer deny the genocidal nature of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Leading Israeli human rights organizations such as B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Israel, along with global watchdogs like Amnesty International, have confirmed these atrocities.
The overwhelming evidence points to a deliberate and systematic genocide -characterized by mass killings, forced displacement, widespread destruction of infrastructure, starvation, and outright ethnic cleansing – all used as instruments of war.
Today, the death toll in Gaza has surpassed 60,000, with women and children suffering the most. Under a relentless blockade and continuous bombardment, Gaza – a densely populated territory – has been reduced to a living grave.
Israel’s disgraceful plan unveiled by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to seize Gaza City, forcibly displace tens of thousands of Palestinians, and then effectively annex Gaza under indirect Arab control is a grotesque extension of this imperialistic aggression. This strategy amounts to a calculated ethnic cleansing campaign in direct violation of international law, reminiscent of historical atrocities condemned worldwide.
The self-proclaimed “voluntary emigration” of Palestinians is nothing but a sham, a coercive expulsion cloaked in euphemism, aimed at permanently dispossessing a people from their homeland.
Equally reprehensible is the complicity of nations that continue to support Israel’s actions under the false pretext of “self-defense.” Major Western allies- including the United States and many European countries- have either actively condoned or diplomatically enabled these atrocities by providing financial, military, and political backing.
This global endorsement emboldens Israel’s unchecked slaughter and systemic violations of human rights, betraying any genuine commitment to justice, peace, and human dignity.
Also, the selective empathy towards victims and the narrative skewing that demonizes Palestinian resistance while legitimizing Israeli aggression must be unequivocally challenged and condemned.
The world stands at a moral crossroads. It must reject the normalization of genocide, ceasefire hypocrisy, and the dangerous rhetoric of “security” used to justify collective punishment and ethnic displacement. Instead, it has a duty to unequivocally hold Israel accountable for war crimes, uphold international law, and support the Palestinian right to self-determination.
The killing of Anas Al Sharif, other journalists, and the ongoing devastation in Gaza demand our collective outrage, action, and solidarity – not silence and appeasement. This is not merely a conflict; this is a deliberate genocide underpinned by systematic oppression and theft of land.
The lives of journalists, civilians, women, and children lost to this merciless campaign are a clarion call for justice and human rights – a call that can not be ignored or drowned out by geopolitical convenience.
