Following the report of a shooting that occurred yesterday at Abule Egba, the group that organised the protests known as “Soro Soke Nation” have absolved Mr Abiodun Bolarinwa of any wrong doing in the shooting that occurred at Abule Egba.
The Group in a press release by its Coordinator, Samson Ayorinde said
that the news that went viral on social media yesterday that Mr Abiodun Bolarinwa shot at protesters was not true.
“Mr Abiodun Bolarinwa is the President-General of Yoruba Youth Forum, YYF. We actually invited him to the protest ground to address the protesters before hoodlums hijacked the protest from us and started shouting at him. Sensing that the hoodlums who were smoking Indian hemp have hijacked the protest, we decided to usher him to his vehicle. As at that time, the hoodlums have started throwing stones which hit him and even some of us. As he was about entering his vehicle we discovered that two hoodlums among the protesters had guns and where coming towards him. At that point he also saw them and he ran to his own vehicle and brought out a gun he shot in the air for him to be able to escape.”
Speaking further, the group added that Mr Bolarinwa never shot directly at any protester, but the hoodlums and ignorant social media influencers referred to him as a politician.
“How can a known Yoruba Youth leader who is also a philanthropist suddenly became a politician? He came to address the protesters and even brought snacks and drinks for us before the hoodlums hijacked the protests. Whoever that is doubting the identity of Mr Abiodun Bolarinwa should go and Google it. He has spoken against this government more than any Yoruba Youth leader we have in the Southwest. We have evidence that Mr Bolarinwa is a good man and we use this medium to apologise to him.”
