Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman and ex-Minister of Agriculture Audu Ogbeh has died at the age of 78.
He passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, according to a statement from his family.
Ogbeh, a prominent Nigerian politician and farmer from Benue State, led the PDP from 2001 to 2005 and served as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development during President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term from 2015 to 2019.
He also held the post of Minister of Communications in the early 1980s under the Shehu Shagari administration and was deputy speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly in Nigeria’s Second Republic.
The family described Ogbeh as a man who “departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community.”
They expressed gratitude for the prayers and support received and requested privacy as they mourn him.
Details of his funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
