Adeleke Takes Lead In Osun Gubernatorial Race As New Results Trickles In

Ademola Adeleke of the Accord party has pulled ahead in the Osun State governorship election, establishing a significant lead as the Independent National Electoral Commission released official results from 25 of the state’s 30 local government areas.

According to the latest INEC data, Adeleke leads with 431,760 votes, while the incumbent All Progressives Congress candidate follows with 364,446 votes.

The African Democratic Congress trails far behind with 10,585 votes.

Adeleke has so far secured victories in 12 local government areas, compared to five won by the APC.

The newly released breakdown highlights strong pockets of support for both leading parties.

Adeleke dominated in key areas including Ede-North, where he secured 35,427 votes against the APC’s 10,283, and Iwo, clearing 27,085 votes over the APC’s 19,660.

The Accord candidate also claimed victories in Ayedaade with 16,681 votes, Egbedore with 19,278 votes, Ayedire with 11,073 votes, and Ila with 16,211 votes.

Conversely, the APC showed resilience in Irewole local government area, locking in a dominant 29,972 votes to Accord’s 10,934.

The ruling party also narrowly edged out Adeleke’s party in Atakumosa-East, securing 9,936 votes over Accord’s 7,872.

As collation enters its final stages, tension remains high across the state capital, Osogbo.

Electoral officials are expected to announce the final five local government areas later today to determine the definitive winner of the governorship seat.
